In English you'd say, "I am hungry" or "I am thirsty." However, in French you must use the verb "Avoir" or to have. So, you'd say "I have hunger" and "I have thirst." To say, "I'm hungry" in French say: j'ai (I have) faim (hunger) or j'ai faim. To say, "I'm thirsty" say j'ai (I have) + soif (thirst) or j'ai soif. To ask somebody if they're hungry say, "est-ce que tu as faim?" Again, you're using Avoir in the second-person singular. To ask somebody if they're thirsty say: "Est-ce que tu as soif?"
