French Travel PlannerFrench Christmas Markets

France is a very festive country with Christmas being a perfect example. You will find Christmas Markets (marchés de noël in French) everywhere. Just about every major city and many other smaller ones along with even some villages will have a Christmas Market.

A French Christmas Market is typically in the medieval center of a city or town often on cobblestone streets filled with vendors selling varieties of merchandise including local food and drink, arts and crafts and other Christmas goodies. Often there are rides for children.

The oldest and most famous French Christmas Market is the Strasbourg Christmas Market held yearly throughout the month of December.

The best time to visit a French Christmas Market is at night to take in the light display. If you are in France during December make sure to ask at the local tourist office for nearby Christmas Markets. You will not be disappointed!
