Q & A

Subject: What type of paperwork or documents will I need to obtain?

Question: I am a US citizen who also has Irish Citizenship. There is a chance that my husband will be transferred to France. As a EU citizen, will I be able to apply for work in France? If so, what type of paperwork/documents will I need to obtain? Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Answer: Yes, you will be able to work. You will need to get in contact with your nearest Préfecture or Sous Préfecture so that you can acquire a Carte de Sejour. A Carte de Sejour is a long-term visa. When you go to the Préfecture bring ALL the paperwork you have, passport, marriage certificate, proof of residents and so on, along with copies of each; the French just love paperwork.
