Q & A

Subject: Moving to Croissy-sur-Seine.

Question: We are moving to Croissy-sur-seine,just outside of Paris. We have rented a home there and are needing to furnish it. I don't want to be lavish as my husbands company is footing the bill. I will need furnishings for livingroom (2 love seats, cocktail table,2 lamps,2 end or sofa tables),diningroom( table , 8 chairs, buffet),kitchen(table and chairs only),2 bedrooms,(the first will need a king- sized box spring and mattress and I am looking for a Simmons back care mattress,as I have read that Simmons produces mattresses in France. The other I would like a queen sized set. I think I will need wardrobes in both bedrooms),and office furniture ie a filing cabinet,shelve/cabinet unit. desk and chair. If anyone can give me some names of stores in that area I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Answer: Me and my wife just moved to France and we have found that furniture is very expansive in here. You might think about shipping stuff you have in the states to France. If you already have furniture I believe it would be cheaper to send it to France in a container. To get an idea of prices in France have a look a www.ikea.com and go the France section, the prices are in Euros, about 90% of the dollar.

This should give you an idea as to weather you should buy in France or ship. Shipping all our things to France was about $3,000, we shipped three futons with frames, tables, chairs and lots of others stuff and figured that it would have cost us about $2,000 just to buy the futons.
