Question: Hi - I'm considering moving to France at some point in the fairly near future - I'm currently in college, getting 2 Bachelor degrees, I'm 26, and a US Citizen. I'm thinking about trying to do a study abroad soon, but I don't know if that will happen. I basically want to know what I need to do to apply for citizenship, or if I can, or what I can do right now to improve my chances of getting citizenship later - any info you can give me would be great. I could probably teach English over there, I might have one other person (girlfriend) move with me, and we would be financially secure.

Answer: As I understand it to become a French citizen you must either marry a French national or have lived in France for a long time. I would suggest the you contact your nearest French consulate to get a definitive answer.
