Q & A

Subject: Contemplating a move from New Jersey to Rouen, France

Question: I'm contemplating a move from New Jersey to Rouen, France. Can anyone recommend a reputable international moving/shipping company?
I suspect that the amount of stuff I'll be transporting will be relatively small- I live in an apartment presently, and I'm hoping to leave most of my major furniture & appliances behind. Nevertheless I'll need to bring some of my stuff with me.
Can anyone offer any recommendations for moving companies?
Thanks!

Answer: I made the move to France with my family last year, we used Astro international, http://www.astrointl.com/. They are based in Boston so they might not be able to help you. Anyway the way it works, as best as I can tell, is that what ever company moves you in the states and picks up your belongings, will work with another company in Europe, in our case in England, that will deliver your belongings. I can't remember the English company that delivered our belongings. We paid $3000 to move 100 cubic meters, as I remember it. The one mistake we made was that we did not move enough, even with the shipping costs it is still cheaper to ship than to buy in France.
