Q & A

Subject: Bordeaux to Castlemoron sur Lot.

Question: A group of couples are planning on hiring a self-drive boat for a one week tour of The Lot and the Baise. Would arrive by air in Bordeaux. Need to pick up our boat the next day in Castlemoron sur Lot. Any advice on best way to travel between those two points? Rail? There would likely be a group of 10 of us plus luggage. Also any suggestions on overnight accommodations in Bordeaux of reasonable quality but not exorbitant price would be appreciated. Thanks very much for any assistance you can provide.

Answer: Castlemoron sur Lot is 25 kilometers(15 miles) from the nearest train station, in the town of Agen. To get from Bordeaux to Agen by train takes a little over an hour, there are trans that run through out the day, cost one way for one person, 17 euros. I got the train info from the French company web site, www.sncf.fr. I believe that there is a bus from the airport in Bordeaux to the center of town. I tried looking at the airport's web site, www.bordeaux.aeroport.fr, but it was not working. I am guessing that you could take a taxi from Agen to Castlemoron sur Lot, as Agen looks to be a big town. Another option would be to rent a car in Bordeaux and drive to Castlemoron sur Lot, it should take about a hour, but you would almost have to rent two cars with all the people you have, that could end up costing a lot.

As for places to say in Bordeaux here are some links, http://www1.hotels-bordeaux.com/ http://www.hotelsbordeaux.net/ http://www.hotel-bordeaux.com/ http://www.grand-hotel-francais.com/ http://www.hotel-de-normandie-bordeaux.com/hdnindex-uk.htm http://www1.hotels-soretel.com/uk/index.html http://www.hotel-majestic.com/

I have a feeling that some of the hotels above might be high priced, so below are low cost hotels, but I don't if there are any in Bordeaux, www.hotelformule1.com, www.etaphotel.com. Hope I was able to help, Jeff.
