Subject: Family of 6 traveling in Europe. Question: We are a family of 6 traveling in Europe for the summer, starting in Amsterdam, then w/ relatives in Belgium, then on to the rest of Europe, maybe England as CHEAPLY as possible w/ 4 kids. Question: Confuse by Internet info. Is it cheaper to take Euro-star from Calai to Folkstone w/ a van and 4 kids or to try to book a ferry in advance? We could go from Ostend to Dover and then from somewhere UK side to something northern coast France, ie Caen as we will be in a gite for a week in Normandy. 2nd Q: re camping- what's some good close to Paris camp-sites? We will maybe bring/borrow/rent tent & bags for camping to save $. Any ideas? 3rd Q: How long does it take to drive from near Vire, Normandy to Bescanon in Franche-Comte (sp.?) Answer: From what my in-laws tell me, it is more expensive to take the Euro-Start than the ferry. That was with a family of four. They also said that price depends more on how long between your departure and return. The greater the difference, longer stay, the higher the price. I don’t know about one way trips.
