Le Point SurveyWhere to live in France 2003 The January 10th 2003 edition of Le Point magazine was partly dedicated to the question of 'Where to live in France?' Le Point surveyed France's largest cities and came up a top 100 "Best Place to live' list - along with lists based on criteria. Paris was the only location surveyed in the Ile de France, as that region is the subject of it's own list based on readers comments. In general the region La Point calls the Grand Ouest, which seems to mean everything west of the straight from the Ile de France to the Pyrénées-Orientales, is the best place to live. This region since the 90's has seen a dynamic growth in terms of business investment. Like any survey there are contradictions, Marseille is number one in terms of being the most enjoyable place to live but was 93rd in terms of being a safest to drive in and was 81st in the over all list. For the overall list, Nantes was number one followed by - Rennes - Besançon - Tours - Laval - Dijon - Chambéry - Chambéry - Caen - Angers - Montpellier, rounding out the top ten. The complete list can be found here. You will need to scroll down to the middle of the page. Below you will find the criteria lists.
