I have been to Paris several times as a tourist and now I have decided to live there.
I am a retired lawyer from America and have been living in China the past 6 years, teaching English.
It is my plan to move to Paris in July 06. Any information concerning housing, the expat community in Paris and teaching opportunities is greatly appreciated. I also have an Irish/EU passport and believe this will make living and working there easier. Is this correct?
I would be glad to provide info on teaching and living in China.
Thanks, Tom

Dear Tom,
I find it interesting how you have been teaching english in China, how has your chinese come along as a result? Paris certainly seems a good european capital to move to, and as you are hoping to, in effect, expatriate again, I wondered if i could offer the services of our company.
We help foreigners invest in France, whether as a maison secondaire or whether they want to go all out and become a french resident. We can help with most queries someone considering such a move would have - such as how to avoid inheritance tax, find a bilingual notaire, translate the sales contract, and our speciality is finding euro mortgages through our close network of french banks.

Hello Tom:
I don't live in Paris, I live in Provence, so I cannot speak with expertise on the housing or expat communities in Paris. There are several online France forums where plenty of folks would be able to answer all your questions. You can try www.totalfrance.com or www.livingfrance.com Just post your questions in the Paris section.
As to ease of living with an Irish/EU passport. If that is to say that you hold EU citizenship, then the answer is yes, no question.
Good luck to you.
