Hello -
My husband and I are moving to the Franche-Comte region. We currently live in Colorado. He will keep his US job and work remotely. We need a global bank so that we can have both a US account and a french account that link. We're looking into Citibank and HSBC.
Any insight / recommendations will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Anne Drolet

We have lived here for four years (Provence). We have an overseas expatriate account with Citibank (through my husband's employer) and we have a local account with the French bank Credit Agricole. We have a monthly wire transfer from Citi to C/A that covers our expenses here. Only drawback - the fact that the dollar is in the toilet. Also, be aware the wire transfer fees can be quite high. The nature of our account with Citibank allows us 3 monthly wire transfers free of charge. Also, if you don't transfer the money IN Euros, the receiving bank will charge you another wire transfer fee, plus the currency exchange rate fee. Once you get to France, you can visit plenty of banks (in your immediate area). Ask lots of questions and don't be put off by people who seem to know nothing or are not willing to get the answers you search. Customer service in France is severely lacking.
You will also want to review the laws on working (remote for a foreign country or otherwise) in France. The laws here are quite complex and it is best to understand them before you arrive.
