Subject: Married No More
Date: Thursday, August 11, 2005
Name: George
Message: I have a Canadian friend who married a french citizen. She received her 1 year carte and is currently working. She has been married since April and unfortunately the couple is separating. A condition of being able to stay there was being married and proving that both lived at the same address...etc. However she is being forced to move out. My question is "How will this impact her status with regards to staying and working since marriage was used as a pre-condition to getting the carte de sejour?"

ps: I realize this is a American site, however I would appreciate any type of feedback

Message I would suggest that if she wishes to remain in France, she should go to her local Mairie's office and explain her situation. Perhaps it is a simple matter of completing the paperwork for individual residency. This is done through the Mairie's office.
