Subject: I have two questions.
Date: Sunday, July 24, 2005
Name: Steve
Message: How receptive are the French to gays? Can you also give me a good website for translating letters? I have a friend who is in her 90s; she lives in Brion about 20 minutes from ChatĂȘauroux. We correspond to each other be it is difficult to do so since she doesn't speak English and I don't speak French. I lived there in the 60's when my father was in the military and she was like my grandmother. I have been back for the last 3 years and plan a trip again in September. Is the weather pretty good September? That was question number 3. I will be there from the 5th through the 25. Paris and the south of France. Thanks for any help.

Message Not sure if this is helpful or not. As for accepting of gays in France, I think it all depends on where you are and your own behavior. The larger the city, the more diverse. The smaller the village, the less diverse.

Most people I know (French) don't have any problem with someone being gay. There will always be exceptions to the rule. Where I live (Vaucluse village of 3300), if you are polite, they are polite.

Weather in September, in the South of France, is gorgeous. Still swimming, yet temps are cooler (but not always). Kids are back in school, so less tourists to battle with. I love September here.

Don't know an online translator, but I'm sure you can find one if you run a yahoo or google search. I know several who operate here in France, but I don't think they accept work online.

Good luck and have a nice vacation.
