My husband and I are looking at moving to the Grenoble area. I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this area. Attractions? Universities? Culture? etc.
I don't need to know anything about visas b/c I am a EU citizen and my husband is from Europe.
Thank you.

Well, I don't know which town you are coming from, but you have to know that Grenoble is a quiet small town (500 000 inhabitants). Still, this is a "student town", with 55 000 students: the night life is fun, with a lot of students hanging around in little cafés on "terasses" (sorry for my english =), making the place very alive each evening. So my advice would be: go in the Notre-Dame area in the evening, walk in the tiny streets, find a cool café. Thare are also lots of cool spots in the mountains around, where you can have long walks, discover cute rural villages, and have a great view on the town and the Alpes. You can also experience the local food, but at you rown risks (the place is historically a town of moutain-rural people!), because is it quiet heavy. Have fun, it is a very beautiful place, you can see the Alpes from a lots of place in the town; wow!

We like skiing. But, what is there to do besides this? Is it a town filled with cafes? Is it more industrial? What are home prices like?

You gotta go ski in Val d'Isere, it's about 2 hrs away and really is a beautiful town especially in winter.

I take it then that your husband works in the microchip business as this is what Crolles is about.
The main attraction of the area is the proximity of the Alps. I hope you like skiing ?
