My wife and I are moving to Paris this summer for one year (to start). We are renting a furnished apartment so do not need to bring too many items, but, as my wife is a PhD candidate, she has lots of books and writing materials. What is the best (least expensive) option for shipping boxes to Paris? I expect the boxes to be Uhaul size book boxes and relatively heavy as they will be mostly books. Thanks

Don't forget to call Air France's Shipping Service. We found them to be quite competitive with other shipping services. They will accept small to large containers. We got a devis (estimate) from them when my husband needed to move about 700 pounds of "stuff."

but what shipping services are recommended? IS the USPS the best (most cost effective) option? We don't need the books right away and are willing to wait a few months if necessary. Thanks

It may be wise to check into different rates for different items. I believe things like "books" only with nothing else has a lower rate for "printed matter" (you cannot add others things into the same box). For other things I'm not sure...
