Message: Having sold a family home in France and having put the money in a account at the caisse d'epargne over there, how do I found out how to pay income tax on this money ?

Message You should get an annualized statement showing the transaction, the deposit into the bank and the amount of interest earned at the bank on the money (taxable) in the mail. Make sure the bank and all necessary parties have your current mailing address. You can use those forms when filing your French Tax return.

If you are not clear on this, you should contact the Notaire that conducted the transaction of the sale of your home. If you did not use a Notaire, you should contact one independently to determine the procedure.
