Subject: Will we still be taxed in the US??
Date: Thursday, January 26, 2006
Name: Debra Gaita
Message: Hi , Maybe one of you out there knows the answer to this! In a few years my husband and I will retire to France permentantly. We will not be employed and the only property we will own will be the one in France. Will we continue to be taxed on the property in France, from the US also?? Thanks, Debra

Message Debra - you might want to have a look at a website that will offer you an enormous amount of data.

www.service-public.fr

It is available in French, English, Dutch and Spanish. It is an official French government website where you can access extremely important legal and government data relating to nearly any aspect of life here in France.

Good luck.

Message Hi Lori, Thanks for your input. Makes us feel a lot better! Someone had told us we'd still be paying but it just didn't sound right. Debra

Message No, you will pay property taxes on your French home to the French Government - both the Tax d'Habitation and Tax Fonciere.
