Subject: marriage documents
Date: Wednesday, September 28, 2005
Name: Katarina
Message: I know this is very late, but I need to know where I can get an affidavit of law and an affidavit of marriage. I'm getting married to my French fiance in October, I'm leaving Oct. 17th. The city hall hasn't set a date yet, but I still haven't been able to track down where to get those documents, although I have found a translator for them. Also, does anyone know if the original birth certificate (untranslated) has to be less than 6 months old or is it just the translation that has to be less than 6 months old? If anyone has any information, it would be most helpful. Thanks!

Message You can get the affidavit of law and affidavit of marriage at an American Consular Office or the Embassy in Paris. There are such offices in Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Nice, Rennes, Strasbourg, and Toulouse. I believe, it is the birth certificate itself that has to be less than three months old. Hope that helps.Goodluck.
