Traffic in France 2007May

Thanks to the three, count 'em three public holidays in May there will be two red (heavy traffic) and seven yellow (moderate traffic) days in France. The holidays are May 1st (May Day – the French Labor Day), May 8th (Victory in WWII) and May 17th (Ascension). Both May 1st and May 8th fall on a Tuesday meaning many people will ‘faire le pont’ and take Monday off to make it a long weekend. As May 17th falls on a Thursday many people will ‘faire le pont’ one more time and take off Friday.

The red days in May are the 16th and 20th. Meaning it’s estimated that many people will be traveling on those two days. Also the 17th is classified as yellow. See below for the other yellow days.
