Northern BurgundyDijon France

Former home to the Dukes of Burgundy Dijon France is the capital of Burgundy. A three hour drive from either Paris or Lyon, Dijon is home to fine food and wine. Along with the former Dukes Palace, a Fine Arts Museum and wonderful old houses in the city center. Here is my 'Things to do in Dijon' list:

  • Take a stroll in the Parc de la Colombière, bikes also available for rental.
  • Window shop along the rue de la Liberté, Dijon's most chic street.
  • Visit Les Halles on a market morning, Wednesday or Saturday.
  • Drive 20 minutes in any direction and take in the Burgundy countryside.
  • Drive along la côte wine country, between Marsannay-la-côte and Nuits-St-Georges.
  • Walk around the Dijon Port.

Not only is there a lot to see in Dijon, but in less than an hours drive you can visit a UNESCO World Heritage Abbaye de Fontenay, the village where Chocolat was filmed, Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, the location of the 'most famous wine auction in the world' in Beaune and right next to Dijon Air Base 102.
