This is a verb tense that exists in all of the Romance languages and does not exist in Enlish. The main point of this lesson is to provide a general over view of the subjunctive and to give you a sense of what it is and when to use it. One of the main uses of the subjunctive is to express subjective wishes and desires. For example, to say, "I want you to eat", you'd say "je veux que tu manges". "Je veux" means I want, "que" means that and "tu manges" means you eat. Most subjunctive phrase include the word "que" and the conjugation of "tu manges" would be in the subjunctive mood.
