Q & A

Subject: Traveling from Marseille to Paris.

Question: I am planning a trip from Marseille to Paris and was wondering where to start looking for transportation and lodging. Would like to find lodging in the vicinity of the major tourist attractions in Paris. Thank you.

Answer:

The two transportation options you are going to have are renting a car and taking the train. A car will be more expensive, about $60 a day plus tolls and fuel (If you do drive see this section of my web site, http://www.americansinfrance.net/driving/). What a car will offer is freedom to see what you want, countryside villages should not be missed they are a hidden part of France that very few tourist see. For an example see http://www.americansinfrance.net/Attractions/Burgundy.cfm on my web site.
The French train system is very good; it takes 3 hours to go from Marseille to Paris with a cost of 56 euros. That is for one person, one way. Have a look at the French Railroad company web site for more information, http://www.sncf.fr.
The best I can offer for lodging in Paris is this Hotel link, it lists all type of hotels in Paris. Do not worry about where you will stay in Paris, the metro is very good and Paris is not that big, so you will not have a problem getting around.
