Q & A

Subject: One and a half days in Brittany.

Question: We have one night and 1.5 days in Brittany only (have our own car). We will be traveling from Germany and heading toward the Loire Valley. How could we best spend that short time? What would you recommend as the highlights of the area? We are into local flavor/eating/scenery rather than war sites. (Traveling mid-May). Related web sites with pictures would be helpful too. Thanks.

Answer: I would suggest that you aim to visit the coast between the towns of St. Brieuc and St. Malo. I asked a French friend of mine what was “the must see part” of Brittany, and that’s what he told me. He went to school in Rennes and said that he would often go there for the weekend. You realize that you will be doing a lot of driving, Strasbourg to Paris is four hours and Paris to Brittany is another four to five hours. Once in Brittany, make sure you visit a crêperie, a restaurant that specializes in crêpes (thin pancakes), the specialty of Brittany.
