Q & A

Subject: Follow-up to Day trips out of Paris.

Question: I can not thank you enough for your valuable information. Thanks sooooooooooo much for all your advice. You have saved me a lot of time and confusion.
My husband, Jai, and I are going to France from April 10 to the 9th, and we are so excited to go. We are staying by the Rue Cler in Paris. We are from Minnesota which still has snow and cold temperatures. Paris should be more warmer than where we are from. We are swaying more towards visiting your town Strasbourg. I had been there in 1988 with my high school class and had loved it Maybe run into you ha ha! Yes I did spell that town wrong. It is Riquewihr near Colmar-a small wine town.
You and your website are priceless. We thank you so very much. Sorry but if you have a few moments I have some more questions.
1) This is probably a silly question but do ATM machines distribute American money or Euro money?
2) Will the flowers be in bloom in April?
3) Another weird question-my husband wants to wear sneakers-should he? Someone told me don't wear sneakers because only Americans wear tennis shoes. But sneakers are so comfortable for walking. We know we will probably stick out there, but we don't want to be so "out there" for the pick-pocketers to notice us.
4) Last question-My husband just bought a digital camera with rechargeable batteries. We bought a converter. No instructions included. One plug has Northern Europe and another says Southern Europe. Is France considered Northern Europe? If we plug the recharging machine to the converter than to the French wall outlet will it work at our hotel? We don't want to accidentally burn the hotel down on our first night ,yikes, the geeks we are. I will stop bugging you now!

Answer: Thanks for the positive feedback about my site, I have put a lot of work into Americans in France. As for your questions, ATM machines in France only dispense Euros, put most let you chose your language! Flowers here in Strasbourg are starting to bloom, so maybe by April they will all be in full bloom. You are the second person to ask me about wearing sneakers in France. It is an American wise tale, like London fog, that is not true. Most young French people wear sneakers, I believe, it’s a hip thing to wear right now. So you both will be "out there", but in a hip way, go for it! I personally wear sneakers quite often and have never been pick-pocketed. Anyway no matter what you do, you both are going to look like Americans. As for the recharging of the digital camera batteries, no problem. I have a digital camera along with a laptop that I bought in the states and both recharge fine. So don’t worry you won’t burn anything down! I think the plug you want is the one for Northern Europe, but I could be wrong. If worst comes to worst you could buy a converter in France.
