Subject: Brittany Question: Hello, I am thinking of taking my parents to Brittany next year for a holiday. My parents are in their early 70's and of average fittness for their age, but my husband and myself enjoy walking and outdoor pursuit activities. We are considering either the St Malo or Concarneau areas (give or take 100km either side of these towns). I have been looking at accommodation within walking distance of beaches, but my questions are; 1. which of the areas is less likely to have a hill decent to the beach? 2. Of the two areas, which would you recommend for things to do - bearing in mind my parents will be left to 'do their own thing' some days - with no transport, therefore shops/beaches/restaurants/gentle walks etc in immediate area would be useful. Answer: Of the places that you asked me about I have only been to the area around Concarneau, so I really can say much about St Malo. Your question about a hill decent to the beach I can’t answer but of what I know of Brittany it tends to be very flat, beaches and all but I have seen cliffs in northwest part. Concarneau is near Quimper, a large city that I have been to and has lots to of things to do, all the things that you asked about, shops/beaches/restaurants/gentle walks. As I remember it public transport was minimal in Quimper, but that might have changed as France tends to have good public transport in big cities. I remember Brittany as being very lovely, I don’t think that anyplace you or your parents go won’t be liked. I wish I had more to give you, I hope what did will help you. Follow @jeffsteiner |
