Subject: Moving from Arizona to Montpellier and Need Help
Date: Monday, December 25, 2006
Name: Justine
Message: Hi all,

I am in process of moving from the US to Montpellier. I just found an apartment which I was surprised to find empty: no cabinet, no appliance in kitchen.

1. I will be in Montpellier on January 5, 2007 to start working on 8th. My apartment is not available until Jan 15th. Can someone help me with housing for few days until my apartment is ready ?

2. I need to furnish this apartment and buy a car. I need help !

>I would like to buy good but not too expensive appliance and furnature. Where should I go ? Can you recommend any good stores ?

>As for a car, I think I will buy une voiture d'occasion, how safe and reliable this process is ? Where should I start looking ?

My french is Ok, so I can communicate if you only speak French.

Thank you

Message Yeah, this pretty normal, no fridge either I bet. It surpised me the first time to. The grocery stores usually have petite announces that sell all sort of stuff. If you want a one-stop place you might look for an iKea. Or go online. I know they deliver. Best wishes.

Message Hi Justine........appartements are ofen in a bare state, c'est normal, unfortunately for you, but have a look at The Languedoc Page website. Peter Hornby runs it from the Montpellier area and it's full of helpful information & advice. You'll probably be able to find enough reasonably priced second-hand cupboards and kitchen items to fill empty spaces through local sources. Good luck and enjoy.
