Buying GasCost of Gasoline in France

Gasoline in France costs about $7.60 per gallon for unleaded (95).

This is an estimation of the cost of buying gasoline in France as of December 2012. I will try to keep this updated as best as possible, but I can't promise. As gasoline is sold by the liter (0.26 US gallons) in France, I've converted from liters to gallons and then from euros to dollars.

Below are some sample prices I've seen for gasoline in France. More can be seen with the links on my Price Comparison Web Sites page.

Unleaded (sans plomb): 1.55€ per liter
Diesel (Gazole): 1.35€ per liter

Exchange rate: 1€ = UD$ 1.32

My formula is euros to dollars, in this case (1.55 x 1.32 = US$ 2.05) and then liters to gallons (US$ 2.05 x 3.78 = US$ 7.50). So if I have everything right gasoline sells for about $7.50 per gallon in France.

One thing to remember is that in France most people drive (and most rental companies offer) smaller more fuel efficient cars than found in the USA. For example my diesel running 2001 Clio gets about 45 miles to the gallon.
