PodcastKristin Espinasse In this Podcast Jeff Steiner talks with Kristin Espinasse, an American in Bandol between Marseille and Toulon. "Just do it!" To start Kristin talks about were she lives in France about her blog French Word a Day, a chronicle of her family's life in France. She uses French words to tell stories of daily life. She then goes on to talk about what brought her to France and in particular Aix-en-Provence in the South of France. Aix as she calls it. Next, Kristin talks about her books and how they were originally short stories and anecdotes on French Word a Day that helped her fit in as a foreigner in France. Blossoming in Provence is from the 2005-2006 archives of French Work a Day. Kristin goes on to tell three French word stories she has written about - bosser (work hard), ficelle (string, thin bread) and n'importe quoi (whatever, baloney, nonsense). She then gives a little background about her becoming a writer (a dream she always had) and self publishing. She ends with some suggestions for moving to France (don't hesitate just do it and try to make contacts before moving to France), how much French she spoke before moving (not as much as she thought!), photos and mp3 files on her blog, what she doesn't like about France (reservedness of the French) and what she misses from the US. |
