Old PostcardsFantaisie

Fantaisie is a special type of French postcard. It's more along the lines of a greeting card than a postcard. A Fantaisie postcard will not normally be a view of buildings or the countryside. A Fantaisie postcard is often associated with events like New Year's, Noël (Christmas), April Fool's Day, a person's Saint Day, or an expression of feelings, humor, love or friendship. Fantaisie postcards tend to be colorized and of people in a set pose.

The word Fantaisie can translate as fancy, imagination, whimsy or make-believe.
