CorsicaAjaccio

Here are some photos of the Corsican city of Ajaccio. Ajaccio is the larest city on Corsica and its capital.

This is one of the many Monument aux Morts (War Monument) you will find in Corsica.
Corsica suffered heavy losses in WWI.

This is Ajaccio as seen from the Mediterranean Sea, just off the coast.

This is Casa Buonaparte where Napoleon was born on August 15 1769.

This is the Cathedral in Ajaccio, built from 1577 to 1593. It is where Napoleon was baptised in 1771.

This is a street next to the Place Charles de Gaulle.

This statue of Napoleon in Roman clothing is in Place Maréchal-Joffre.

Another of the many statues of Napoleon you can find in Ajaccio. This one sits atop a pyramid with Napoleon’s military victories and accomplishments written on the face you walk up.

Small narrow street in Ajaccio.
